Bulow Sugar Mill - Ormond, Beach, Florida

Bulow Sugar Mill - Ormond Beach, Florida

We visited the Bulow Sugar Mill while camping at Tomoka State Park. This was beautiful!  I can only imagine what it looked like before the Indians burned it down!

Bulow Sugar Mill

As you turn off the main road, you almost feel as though you've missed your turn.  The road is long and narrow, one laned, through a thick Floirda scrub.  Finally, reaching the entrance.  There's a $4 cash fee per car and maps are available.  Contining to follow the dirt path, around corners, through the forest, ahead of you stands the Bulow Sugar Mill.  Beautiful in its own right.  You're able to take a short walk around the mill, a hike into the woods to see the Spring House and enjoy the small museum.

Just around the corner form Tomoka State Park is
Fairchild Oak in Bulow Creek State Park.
Admission is free!  Clean bathrooms and a picnic area.

It's a MUST STOP AND SEE!
It's one of the largest live oak trees in the South,
at least 400 years old!

WOW!
This camping trip was wonderful!
7 families, tons of fun!

Natural Florida...that's the first thing that pops into my head if I had to describe the park in a second!

Kids approve!
Fishing, canoeing, hiking, everything is family friendly!  Easy enough for those of you who aren't too outdoorsy, and enough wilderness for those of you who are!

The evening ranger program was probably THE BEST I've seen in a long time!  Maybe the best I've seen in Florida!  The repitile show blew the kids away!  They literally passed around every non-venomous snake the ranger had to offer!  A few were captive bred, making them tamer than their wild relatives.  What a great experience!

My Style...

A few of my friends have agreed that THIS is my style of camping!  I don't know if I should take this as a compliment or laugh at them!

Anyone offering it up, I'll take it!
